Add html to a web page or template
HTML snippet editor
The snippet editor allows you to add in snippets of html code straight into your web page, without having to view the source of the page. You simply have to position the snippets where you want to go. Select the snippet from the library and you select by name or number. On the page you will see the snippet number and that’s where the html will be added to the place as the page gets published. Snippets can be added to pages or page templates. Using the snippet editor also helps prevent corruption of the html by the web browser, as often happens when adding to a web page directly, as web browsers tend to alter code like this when displaying it and so having an html library, rather than adding directly to a page html, protects the the code from alteration by the browser.
To add a snippet click the html snippet icon and the following screen will pop up:
You can add or edit snippets here. If you are adding or editing a snippet, you can select it from the drop down list. When editing a snippet you will normally select by the number and use that drop down list, unless you already know the name of it.
When adding, it can be selected by the library name, which makes it easier to identify.
Adding html into the system, you first 'create new snippet' then paste your html in and save it. If editing, change the html and re save. To add the snippet to the page or template, select where you wish it to appear and click 'Add snippet to page' and the marker will appear where you have the caret. You can move this marker manually or delete it, as if it was text:
When the page is published, the snippet will be converted to html at the point of publishing and added to the page.
