Adding one or more picture galleries to the website
Adding a gallery
Galleries are useful to have as they allow larger
images to be added to small thumbnails. When a user clicks them
open up to a larger image which then scales to the device the user is
on. They are very easy to add to our CMS system and multiple galleries
can be used on one page and a user can go freely backwards and forwards
between them by clicking on right and left arrows.
The galleries are mobile responsive. This means that the image scale depends upon the size of a screen, so whether you’re using a mobile, desktop or table, the images get bigger or smaller for the user dependant on that.
Adding them is as simple as adding a marker to a page you can select the markers from the gallery editor. Existing galleries appear in a drop down menu. You can simply select them and add the gallery to the page. It will then appear on the page and you can delete or move it by cutting and pasting it and then re-saving the page.
If you want to manage a gallery, add more galleries or add pictures, click on the gallery button, you then click on manage galleries and you get to where you can choose settings, or edit an existing gallery’s settings. The sizes and colours of text and borders are all controllable, as is the size of the thumbnail.
The colour option allows you to select from preset colours or to add your own colour code which is available from most imahge editors, including many free online ones:
Clicking on 'Add/edit pictures' takes you to the following screen:
You can add an image, give it a title, select main and thumbnail image, which changes the order they are shown. Then you can update, edit, change the order or delete them, as you wish. Below is an example of an existing record, which can be seen when you press 'Edit' on the pictures list:
When you have finished updating the gallery, you will need to resave the page that the gallery sits on and republish it for thegallery to update on the live site.
